As I sit here typing this sentence out a million thoughts are swarming around in my head. The journey to this moment has been a long maze with what feels like lots of dead ends and switch backs.
It really all started when I was too young to be watching Unsolved Mysteries, but I was watching every episode anyway. The first episode aired in October of 1988 right before I turned 8 years old. I was instantly terrified of getting kidnapped in a white Creeper van, but also fascinated how they put clues together to find people. A few years went by and I landed on Criminal Profiler with the FBI as my career goal. I actually imagined myself as a slightly alcoholic, lonely, childless FBI Agent, and I LOVED the thought of it.
With many stories to be told in between 15 year old me and current 42 year old me, I am here to inform you that I did not become an FBI agent, and I have 2 kids. I never even ended up working in an investigative field of any sort. The disappointment was as big for me as it is for you reading this right now.
In the in between I have had a million dreams, and like shooting stars they shine super bright and fizzle out before I can truly see them long enough to grasp them.
Until now.
One of those shooting stars was to have a website or 10 that brought in income. I don’t and didn’t really care how the money is made, and it folds into a small meteor shower of wanting to work for myself, wanting to write, wanting to create products, wanting to work online.
The longest shooting star still dragging across the sky of my dreams is to work in some sort of investigative field. The reality of going back to school, or changing jobs, risking the current security of income all weigh heavily on me. I got the idea of doing Investigative Reporting or Investigative Writing which I am hoping will allow me to realize this dream of a lifetime that I have held onto.
Thus this website, which I have decided will be a Media website for all intents and purposes. The rest will hopefully become clearer as I move forward on realizing these shooting star dreams I have.
Here is my list of goals this week. Learn how to write articles, learn how to investigate things, publish website with all the errors and empty spaces. I will continue to write about this journey I am on, to bring this dream of mine to life. Feel free to follow me in this craziness that is a shooting star.
